I heard it was excellent, but at this point in time its hard for me to push myself to see a movie based around Vampires.

I havent seen the original, but from what I gather, its the exact same story, only its set in New Mexico rather than Sweden.

I don't get it...Why do Americans so desperately want to make and watch re-makes. Most of the time the originals are better (The departed was better than the original if you ask me). I don't think i will watch it, because it's original is awesome. I've seen it like 4 times.

For the most part, if the film is successful, the Hollywood suits see there's money in it, so it gets remade in the hope it does the business again (and to a wider audience). Personally, I see it as a cynical grab for cash, and usually a dilution of what made the film great in the first place.
