Well, a soldering iron is much less dangerous than a rifle, for one. I also have never been shot at, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like it.
One could argue with me on the former point, but don't.
I am the complete opposite I actually signed up for "the sh*t"
Not sure if you have seen my posts about what I want to do, but I joined the Navy coz my dream job is to be a SEAL. If I don't make it through, I am putting in for OCS and switching over to the Marine Corp. In OCS, you have the choice of continuing with the navy or becoming a marine.

I'm a music teacher for kids/teens between 12 and 20 (normally that should be around 18, but some people didn't pass a couple of times and had to re-do their years :p )
Yes I'm teaching music to people who're merely a year younger than me :p

Yeah, I noticed your posts. I wish you luck on your journey, that SEAL stuff looks hard as hell.
I just signed up for the Aviation Electronics option, because I knew from day one that I was not grunt material, but the other branches didn't look appealing, and after 2 years in the Marines I'm just now starting to get expert rifle quals.
I'm kinda in a position of indecision, as I have no idea whether I want to continue doing this after I get out, or even if I want to get out. I'll just have to wait and see.

That's pretty cool. Out here on the USS Truman we get to watch AFN every day, and I gotta say that the military commercials are lame and low budget as hell, but some of the stuff is pretty informative. Is there a chance I can see you on TV out here?

Maybe. Our TV programs are sent to The Pentagon Channel, and every now and then they air it. But for the most part, we serve the Korean Peninsula. Most likely, if you ever came to port in Korea, you would. But I don't know if the Navy ports here. They mainly go to Japan.

Meh, "the sh*t" is overrated.
I was a Tanker for 6 years. I did two deployments to Iraq, one for 12 months and one for 15. First time in 04-05 I was in Sadir City. In OIF 07-09 I was in Mosul. So, both times I deployed, I was in the "most dangerous" parts of Iraq. So, "the sh*t" kinda loses it's appeal after being blown up for the umpteenth time. I switched to Journalism because I've done my time in the dirt, and now I want the Army to work for me.
I've thought about trying out for SF, but there's two things about me that prevent me from doing so: 1. I like to eat 2. I like to sleep
Two things that SF don't get to do a lot.

Orchard contractor. Currently have been pruning apple trees for the last 3 months and all this month.
I worked in a saw mill for a few years but i make better money with contract work on orchards, and its nicer being out in the trees. Orchard work is pretty much what i have done since 1986. My town Motueka is all fruit (apples, kiwifruit, pears, hops), fishing and forestry work. Used to be the Tobacco capital of New Zealand, which i worked in back in the day. My Gramps grew it for 40 years. A lot of growers are wanting to get into Hemp, its a great area for growing it. Grape vineyards are starting to spring up around the countryside too.

This is going to sound very strange, but I feel divinely called to do this job. There is nothing I'd like more than to earn my trident and become a member of the teams.

Well, seeing that the SSG has the most combat experience, and I have absolutely no combat experience in my grand total of 2 years in the Marines, I'd say he does.
And Olias, how long have you been in the Navy?

I work part-time at a local retail store. But I hardly get any hours so I have a second job.
I work at a small Italian restaurant called Italian Style. I'm a server there, along with Mr. Rotout (Zack).
Here's what I wear as a server...

Oh yeah,we certainly get our fair share of them around here. There was even a couple of times that the police were chasing a guy thru the store. Yes ,they were caught.

Not a problem.
Random fact: Did you know that the Multiple Launch Rocket System, or MLRS, can destroy an entire Military map grid square, or 1 square kilometer?
