"Men didn't look like this in the 50's" ...maybe because it's not the 50's anymore?
If he wants to talk tradition, he should look back a bit further into American history. Long hair was VERY common in the 1700s. Is he saying our forefathers were not real men?
But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." ~ 1 Samuel 16:7
About the Michael W Smith comments, he (the preacher) doesn't seem to recall that in the Bible, even the Apostles hadn't figured out why Jesus had to die until soon before his crucifixion, let alone the people Jesus preached to. Jesus did reference his crucifixion but nobody understood what exactly he meant, due to the language Jesus used. So he did have an ambition that few understood at the time, so calling it a "secret ambition" is not too far-fetched. Anyone is welcome to correct me on any of this info, i'm just going by what I remember...
All the preacher's comments on appearance are not based on anything written in the Bible. They are his opinions, or more broadly, ideas based in present day cultural norms. Some people are uncomfortable with what they do not understand, as this fellow seems to be. He's probably not all bad/crooked. I think when misunderstandings like this happen we need to edify our brothers/ sisters in Christ. It's where the heart is/ what kind of fruits you produce in your actions that truly matters, not outward appearance.

This one was a total improv on stage that night. We invited the guitarist from Oil on stage with us and he and Steve soloed at the same time. We also had Randy Michaud from Troglodyte Dawn sharing vocals. Considering it was totally on the spot and unrehearsed, it came out great.

Dood, that's the first time I've ever seen Troggy in a live video like that. In the short time I've interacted with him online, he's a really good dood.

Yes, I still talk to him. He's doing good. He's playing guitar now and planning on doing a solo thing in the future. He was playing drums at his church too, though I don't know if he is still doing that.
Here's another one:

A video from 2001:
The band at the time was myself on vocals, Steve Trujillo & Robert Gutierrez guitars, Sean Griego on drums and Tom Micheals on bass. I believe this was the last show with Tom on bass. Future Ultimatum bassist was in the crowd that day watching as a fan.

Vocals are a bit loud on this video, but still a cool video. Shot in Anaheim, CA, 2002 when we were opening for Once Dead. Note the priest collar I'm sporting. Thought it looked cool, but it only lasted for a couple shows. Too dang hot!
