Lexical Ambiguity Vide
PostSubject: Lexical Ambiguity   Lexical Ambiguity Icon_minitime1Mon Aug 16, 2010 11:47 am

I found this concept to be quite interesting. It's deliberate emphasis and use of the same words that have different meanings and/or usage. Confusing nonetheless, these sentences are constructed properly, and are grammatically correct.

Rose rose to put rose rose on her rows of roses.

James, while John had had 'had', had had 'had had'. 'Had had' had had a better effect on the teacher.

That that is, is. That that is not, is not. Is that it? It is.

For my sign, please put more room between the 'Smith' and 'and,' and 'and' and 'Sons'.

If the police police police police, who polices the police police? Police police police police police police.

It was 'and' I said, not 'are', and 'and' and 'are' are different.

"But and and" and "and and and" and "and and so" are all pairs of conjunctions.
<-I like this one!

The grand finale:
Wouldn't the sentence "I want to put a hyphen between the words Fish and And and And and Chips in my Fish-And-Chips sign" have been clearer if quotation marks had been placed before Fish, and between Fish and and, and and and And, and And and and, and and and And, and And and and, and and and Chips, as well as after Chips?

Awesome.

Apparently, these are correct too, but I can't tell. I've only read the English version.... (which isn't the same because it translates differently and loses that trademark same-word use.)
Torrente?

Wenn hinter Fliegen Fliegen fliegen, fliegen Fliegen Fliegen hinterher.

Selten ess' ich Essig. Ess' ich Essig, ess' ich Essig zum Salat.

Sorry, That has nothing to do with the thread. I've just always wondered when exactly you would use something like that. I guess here works just as well.

No, they are not grammatically correct. And it's not interesting, since none of those examples are crafted well. There are examples from some good poets that are interesting.. bit don't see any of those here.

You being the picture of correct grammar and all things interesting, I'm sure you'd know.

You're such a negative nancy today. Don't you have some pills to take?
...or a different picture of yourself playing guitar for your ICP cover band?
