| I don't know how many of you know of Anne Rice. She's the author of Interview with a Vampire, and the other books in such series. She had become a Christian a couple of years ago, a Catholic. It seems it was genuine, I believe. She had written a book about her testimony, and even a book about Jesus, since. However, just recently she said she is leaving Christianity: - Quote :
- "The “Interview with a Vampire” author, who wrote a book about her spirituality titled "Called Out of Darkness: A Spiritual Confession" in 2008, said Wednesday that she refuses to be “anti-gay,” “anti-feminist," “anti-science” and “anti-Democrat.”
Rice wrote, “For those who care, and I understand if you don't: Today I quit being a Christian ... It's simply impossible for me to ‘belong’ to this quarrelsome, hostile, disputatious, and deservedly infamous group. For ten years, I've tried. I've failed. I'm an outsider. My conscience will allow nothing else.”
Rice then added another post explaining her decision on Thursday:
“My faith in Christ is central to my life. My conversion from a pessimistic atheist lost in a world I didn't understand, to an optimistic believer in a universe created and sustained by a loving God is crucial to me," Rice wrote. "But following Christ does not mean following His followers. Christ is infinitely more important than Christianity and always will be, no matter what Christianity is, has been or might become.” From: http://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2010/07/30/anne-rice-leaves-christianityI read this, and I very much understand what she means. Like Ghandi said, it's common to like Jesus but not like His followers. I'm sure Anne means it when she says Christ is central to her life, and hopefully she still believes on Him as her Lord and Saviour - and if she never really did, pray that she will. I definitely agree with the last couple of sentences she said though; being a Christian is indeed about following God, and not about following His followers. But please just pray for her, that she be able to find good Christian fellowship/church with sound doctrine, and that she won't be turned off of a true relationship with God and other true believers. |

| I've never been one to blame the Shepherd for what the sheep do. I'm glad she appears to be the same way.
"They know not what they do." comes to mind.
I think of the times where Christians have said said and done some pretty dumb things.... but in the big picture, I believe their intentions are to please their Creator. Is it really that bad?
I'm certainly ok with someone thinking I'm evil. If I'm entitled to be wrong sometimes, so are they.

| Yes Gorlim, that is awesome, and definitely true. Just to let you guys know, I was not saying that she has any less faith, nor that her salvation is at risk. I was just concerned because sometimes, getting discouraged by the mistakes of Christ followers can sometimes lead to a Christian losing faith or falling away from the faith. I'm just afraid that she might stop believing, although it is clear she still believes strongly. And mostly, I was just asking for prayer for her to come to know some like minded believers to have fellowship with, as at least some fellowship is important and builds each other up . |
