Hey Mazzie - just wondering something. With Despised Youth you are looking for hardcore / punk type bands. With Barren Meadows it appears you are looking for more extreme/death/black metal and such. Is Barren Meadows strctly an "extreme metal" format label? Because if you are looking for more mainstream (choke) metal - then we would like to talk with you!

Cephalophore isn't metal at all.

Barren Meadows Recordings is more of an experimental label. We focus on ambient, noise, drone, folk, et cetera. It can be metal or not just as long as it is pushing the boundaries of music.

So yall are down with death and black metal bands? I was under the impression yall were looking for more drone/ambient/noise (which shares next to no connection with metal).

I may be wrong about what type of music Barren Meadows is putting out! It was just a guess!

Yes, we are down with extreme metal as well but we are looking for experimental ones not the ones that provide nothing new to push the boundaries.

Drone is not necessarily metal. I consider drone doom and ambient drone to be different. Drone is a very ambiguous genre, but yeah. The metal side of it is certainly only a fraction of its derivatives.

Basically, so long as the music is good, and pioneering, we'll give it a listen. It could even be trip-hop or something. I think Mazzie and I both kindof have a similar taste in which artists we would feel would be right for our roster, so really, I don't think it is a matter of genre, but by the nature of each artist's music itself.

Yeah, there is drone metal, but drone itself predates metal anyway.

my good buddy eric has a project called siltwater, i highly recommend you sign him, if your interested i can let him know, hes offline at the moment due to computer problems but if you look on the drone board their is a post with all of his music and such, check it out and see what you think....
