| I am inspired to start this thread from recently listening to the rock song 'TV Police'.
Feel free to add TV shows that you feel should not be on TV. If you were king for a day what would you remove. Try to pace yourself, I plan to add one per day. This may stir a little controversy as some out there have diverse tastes/preferences.
I'll start, on US daytime TV there is a so-called "talk show" called Jerry Springer. This looney is all about enticing physical arguments. Every show requires at least 2 muscle bound bouncers to minimize bloodshed. I have seen a similar version of this on Mexican TV but it is more violent.
DISCLAIMER: I don't really follow this show and have no desire to. I only catch bits & pieces when others are viewing. |

| If you ban Jerry Springer, you might as well ban "professional wrestling". They're in the same genre of shows. For the most part, it's staged.... but I won't say fake.
I say ban UFC and MMA from TV.
I have no problem with televised fights, I just don't like mouthy 19 year olds who watch nothing but this and think they're fighting stars because they wear Tapout. ....and try to get me to fight them just because I'm big.
....even though they bite off more than they can chew, it still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth... |

| WWE should be taken off the air. Disney Channel. Nickelodeon, minus stuff like Malcolm in the Middle and Everybody Hates Chris where emphasis isn't put on having a great house, being surrounded by gorgeous people, being incredibly materialistic, etcetera. Reality TV. Futurama. Most of what's on TV shouldn't be available to the public, especially the kids in this world. I'm pretty anti-TV. I'm not gonna lie and say I don't ever watch TV, because I do. Not as much as I used to, most of it bores/pisses me off these days. Even the news. Sleep teaching and all that. There is good television, no doubt, but I refuse to watch a vast majority of it. If I'm watching TV and I find myself to be slack-jawed and consumed by it, I get up and leave or turn it off. It consumes too much time, it's not real. Anyway. |

| ^ Well said. Don't forget the MOSTLY dumb commercials between the dumb programs. Some are so dumb they are laughable. I have to keep reminding myself that TV sets were originally made for commercials. It's the sponsors trying to sell their products to the public. My TV set is 95% used for viewing DVD's as is my car stereo is 95% used for playing my CD's. |

Excuse me??!!! You have no right to link violent shows to MEXICAN TV!! Unless you have direct feed to Mexican stations then you're talking about Telemundo and Univision, the only violent talk shows on there are Laura (Peruvian) and Jose Luis Sin Censura (Filmed in CALIFORNIA!!!) lolz. Just saying. Also, most of the "Mexican" soap operas are of Colombian, Argentinian, Venezuelan, or even American descent. Of course there are Mexican ones as well, but still. My point is that's it's not fair to lump TV shows together as "Mexican" just because it's in Spanish. |

| Yes, I paused for a moment before I typed the word 'Mexican'. I believe those two stations that you mentioned are the only Spanish speaking stations available in my (So Cal) area. As far as I know they are Mexican but I could be wrong. I have no clue where they broadcast from. These programs were made by hispanics for hispanics of which Mexico is included. Perhaps to be Jorge correct, I should have said 'Hispanic or Latin TV'. I was indeed referring to the talk and soap operas I've glanced at while the TV blares in the background while I am trying to do my trabajo. Sorry, I couldn't tell you the specific names of the shows. But I still have memories of a Jerry Springer type show with a lot of hair pulling and slapping. In the soap operas I remember mostly sleaze, fights, and a whole lot of yelling. Much like the US soaps they are emulating, they could use a lot of cleaning--pun intended. Relax Jorge, I never intend to offend. Just making (caucasian) observations. |

So, what do you and IMP have against WWE/TNA/Pro Wrestling? In fact, what do you and IMP have against all these channels/shows you have spoken about? Might as well throw the Bible in the Trash as well, since the Bible contains the great majority of what you both are complaining about. Shoot, the Bible even has Cannibal Corpse-ish themes in there occasionally. Sorry oldschool, but I think this thread is nothing but a way to piss on others for their views, and I don’t like this thread at all. With that in mind, here is my views. I will admit however imo, the ONLY things I say that should be banned are the Religious/Christian channels/shows and the pornography channels/shows. If you guys were in charge of doing this, you really would be destroying all of the television I watch. My view is, you don’t like it, don’t watch it! I personally hate Malcolm in the Middle and Everybody Hates Chris, and I think they’ll get pulled eventually anyways, but I wouldn’t ban any of those shows, because I know there are others that enjoy those shows. So, why do you guys do that to me and others like me? As said, the only ones that Truly DESERVE to be banned are the Religious/Christian Channels, and the Pornography Channels. Note: Religious/Christian DOES NOT include stuff like the History Channel, Discovery Channel, and other similar things. |

It's kinda like talking to your mates about your fantasy lay, or the most fantastic way to obliterate your boss who annoys you to no end...Yeah, IRL you'd be a pig for doing it, but really, it's just some fun, lighthearted conversation. Not everything has to srsbsns. |

| To make everybody happy(especially myself), I choose not to watch 95% of the scheduled programs on TV in the past 5-10 years. The operative word being 'CHOOSE'. Back in the day, I watched TV a lot. I mean 8+ hours per day. Now I probably don't even watch 8 hours in a month, lol. I have concluded that TV was just better back then. Stuff today just doesn't appeal to me. We had less choices but the quality was better. For serious TV watchers today,, thank goodness for an abundance of regular channels plus premium channels. Not to mention Pay-per-view for those that want to treat themselves once in a while. I am just more selective what I watch nowadays. |
