I was at work today and it started to thunder and such and one of my coworkers asked me to go shut the windows in her car. I popped back into my department to tell my boss I'd be right back, went to the back door, put my hand on the handle and my coworker yanked me back. This white sheet of water came rushing off of the building behind us, the wind started going incredibly fast and we couldn't see anything outside for about thirty seconds. The whole thing lasted only about two minutes and here are some pics of the damage:


This is where I work, the public library. It's a nice, big, old, very solid building and it was shaking when the storm hit.

Downtown is a mess of leaves, branches, broken glass and random stuff strewn everywhere. About a quarter of the city is without power, so I hear. I don't know if anybody got hurt or killed though.

Wow, what a mess! I hope everyone is ok.

We've had HUGE amounts of rain here - like flash floods.

Like a foot of standing water in some of the roads and in yards.

The garden where I work has taken some damage. >_<'

....but it took a couple days and the water disappeared by itself.
(and we just had to clean up some mud.)

You've got it worse off. I bet it will take a week or so to clean all that up.

Yeah, I heard about that. I was working a few towns away and it randomly started raining.
No tornadoes for us though.

But oh, man. Back when I lived in Illinois, we had our fair share. I've been blown through Walmarts off the ground, etc.
