This law is about piracy how does playing the music over the internet violote this law or constitute piracy. Seems like all the bands I know want their songs played by all radio possible. Perhaps I am in the dark as I have not been a DJ in over a dozen years. LMK. Thanks.

P.S. anyone know anything about this www.riaaradar.com site?

That website is what we use to determine what is safe to play and not to play.

The problem is royalties. If a band is part of the RIAA, we have to pay royalties every time we play them. To do otherwise is to commit theft.

EDIT: This also applies to record labels.

Thanks Bryan. How is it theft if you buy an album then play a song or two from the purchased album? Is it because your audience has to have a media player to hear the songs, and by doing so they are basically downloading the songs they hear? LMK. This old dog - RUFF! Wants to know why certain bands do not get played? I am looking for some logical reasoning.

Is this something that just internet broadcast have to do? I have known and still know a few regular local radio personalities and I can not see how everytime they play song they have to pay to do so. I also remember and know that regular local radio stations get a ton of promo albums from the record companies who basical beg for air time. I can not see how a record label can beg a station to play their material then try to charge the radio stations to do so! scratch
