How do I start this? Monday, I woke up and noticed something odd, my lip looked crooked and
and when I smiled, only the left hand side was crooked, when i don't smile, it looks fine

Fast forward to Tuesday, was at my monthly infusion, the nurse noticed I sounded weird, she
had the doctor come in to the infusion room, she asked me to smile, and it was the same
and they told me I have Bells Palsy:( I was devastated and angry at myself after I heard what
they told me

My speech is still ok and I have been prescribed to take steroid pills for the disorder. The main thing
on my mind was that I have been doing my show now for almost 18 years and talking on air
is so important to me and I don't want to lose the ability to do my show and i will fight this battle, so I come to everyone here on BB and please pray for me, I would really appreciate it.

It's no fun having any physical malady. I will pray for you too.

Perhaps you have been told by now that the one good thing about Bell's Palsy is that it goes away...completely...over time....most of the time.

thanks everyone, it means a lot to me, getting the steroid pills shortly,
didn't sleep well last night just thinking about it

I blame myself for everything that happened but for now on, no more
excuses, no more procrastinating, no more being hesitant.

If I can beat drugs/alcohol(almost 20 years on July 4th), this demon needs
to be fought, beaten and defeated.

praying for you! my mom had bell's palsy... twice. not trying to scare you, you're not supposed to be able to get it twice like that! but praying it clears up soon.

thanks Sedona, I appreciate it, let's hope its a 1 time deal for me, I'm sorry your Mom had it twice, hope she is better now and I hope I get better from this, I couldn't sleep a wink last night and I was too upset just thinking about it, the doctor put me on steroid pills and have a follow-up in 2-3 weeks, thanks again

went to my follow up today, continuing taking the steroid pills and now using artificial tears to protect my left eye and wear a patch either during a nap or bedtime

I'm starting to understand what BP is now, the condition can be either
temporary or it could be 3-6 months or the rest of your life

like I said before, thankfully it was caught early and just relieved that I
know more about it than before:)

While taking prednisone, you really need to be taking at least 2000 mg of vitamin c a day. PRednisone suppresses the immune system.. that is how it reduces inflammtion.. since inflammation is caused by the immune system attacking part of the body.

YOu should be taking a multi-strain pro-biotic too.. cause prednisone also aids in the growth of fungis in the body.

So most important things to be taking alongisde prednisone-

1. 2,000 to 3,000 mg of vitamin c every day
2. Mnutlistrain probiotic once a day
3. Flax seed or fish oil once a day ( these are powerful natural anti-inflammatories and are great at treating auto immune disorders.. like you have. )
