| Well I'm I guess you say newly born again. I heard the message of God through metal (Stryper & Mortification) and after countless listens of good songs and what not, I accepted Christ. I been listening to Christian metal for not even a year, and I believe it's how I became born again. Now here's a little story I decided to post up here.
I met this girl a long time ago, she will rename nameless. She was a Mormon and I was the agnostic/bridging athiest headbanger that didn't want anything to do with God or religion... But I really liked this girl, I felt like I wanted to be with her, but she always said she only wanted to be friends cause I wasn't in her religion (never understood Mormons and I still don't even now) but after awhile of talking, hanging out every once in awhile things started becoming serious.
When she moved closer cause of school, I went down to see her more often, we started cuddeling, holding hands and going out sometimes, you know, mushy stuff like that. Anywho... She would try to push religion and Jesus on me, of course me being at the time I didn't want any of it, but we would just stay at the pace, even started saying "I love you" to each other. At valentines she gave me this box of candy really decorated and what not (sparkly!!) and underneath the candy was a picture of Jesus and the Book of Mormon, I gave the book to my cousins who are Mormons, tossed out the box cause later I learned all that was BS but I could not bring myself to toss the picture of Jesus out even though I was contemplating on that.
Well things started going downhill on our relationship after that, little did I know she was talking to a guy online with her singles ward, he's from another country (not saying where) and she ended up meeting him and asking me to look after her cats, later she comes back engaged (wtf right??) Anyway, after awhile we lost contact, I haven't talked to her in years, dunno how she's doing, but I still have that picture of Jesus, right next to me on my comp desk.
She wanted me to find Jesus and join her religion (I still don't like the Mormon religion, I been to a Church a few times, not my thing, I don't like the idea of the Book of Mormon) but here I am, a few years later, headbangin to Christian metal (something she loathed about me was my music) the very music she loathed, I found Gods word and gave my life to Christ... (Talk about a big case of irony there) I now find myself wanting to learn all there is to know about Jesus.
I haven't found a Church yet, I've been looking online n'stuff cause thats how I roll (internets is serious business) but yea I really don't know what to look for or whats right for me yet. I hear God calling me ya know? I want to follow but I don't know how or where he wants me to go. I'm stuck in my box, I work all hours of the day/night, I'm a gamer at night and when I have off work thats all I do when I'm not out with friends or anything like that, it's like I need to break outta this box, I hear God calling me but I don't know where to go or anything.
Anyway, why I felt like posting that, I don't know but it was something I just thought about today and decided to share it with you all. |

| Thanks for posting that man, quite interesting. I just had a good friend become born again, and yeah is just going along one day at a time and just found a Church right for her- its not about being all proper and holy... just a place to meet people who can answer your questions and get to know God and others who believe in Him... Keep going and keep moshing! |

| A local church would be good, one that believes and follows the Bible. If you could find one with a young adults group/bible study that would be excellent.
I'm assuming you're American, as the majority of people here are, so I can't suggest a denomination as I'm not that clued up on them over there. (I'm Australian)
Ask around though, there will be a church to suit you, just a matter of finding it. |

| In my opinion, religion is for the birds. All the benefits of God as a Higher Power come from spirituality. I heard an analogy that makes a pretty good definition of both:
Religion is two guys sitting in church talking about fishing. Spirituality is two guys fishing talking about God.
Some churches are full of spirituality, but its certainly not limited to church or any place. More or less what other people have said, your best bet is to find a group of people that are good for you, and "fish" often. ^_^ _________________
I've known a few girls a little bit what you described. Not necessarily pushy with God, but pushy with other things. (and God.)
I've been single for a couple years. I've had a couple relationships, one which lasted for 4 years, that all ended badly, but God wasn't involved. More or less, that's why it ended up a disaster. (that, and me and these women were never on the same page for other reasons)
I'm involving prayer and meditation to my God in me finding that right person. I certainly can't pick em.
Since I believe He hasn't called me to be a celibate hermit, I believe he has someone just right for me. Probably a type of person I would have never expected to be with... |

| Thanks for the replies. I agree with studying from the Bible because it is the written word of God and well the churches I spent most my time in are Mormon churches and I just never understood them and why they were so sure that their book is the true book and what not. I got nothin againts them, most of my closest friends are Mormons as well as my relatives.
I just gotta get out of my box that I'm in, it's like I'm so stuck on working (mostly all hours of the day/night) gaming, and friends and it's also hard for me to get up that early in the morning lol. Slowly but surly I'll try to get out the box a little. |
