I just spent a few minutes typing up a paragraph describing what I've written thus far and my writing style, but I decided to delete it because I don't want to birth any preconceived notions of what you might think it will sound like. I'm not giving a timeframe of when it will be done, but I may post clips detailing my progress so you can get a better feel for what I'm writing.

I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for (it's got more of an "atmospheric" vibe to it as opposed to just straight, raw aggression reminiscent of early 90's black metal), and I'm not sure if you'll even like it, but I'll see what I can crap out for you.

Cool! I'm looking forward to hearing what you come up with.

Oh, and just because I am writing doesn't mean no one else can. If you feel like writing, WRITE! It may be better than what I produce.

Black metal is def. one of my favorite genres. I can play BM, but when it comes to writing the stuff I get a little brain dead. Can you name a few bands you are most inspired by So I can get a feel for what your looking at (i know Berzum seems to be one). if you want to check out my recording style just go to my Myspace (http://www.myspace.com/etherealmessenger). I'm pretty much open to record and do any style.

Whenever I get ideas for riffs, I like to use the voice memo thing on my mp3 player and I hum the general melody for future reference. If the melody is strong, usually it is a strong start for a memorable BM riff.

UPDATE!

I sent a rough demo (*only rhythm guitar, though I do have the lead guitar written as well*) of the first three minutes of the song I'm working on to lastfirstborn and he was pleased with it, so I am going to continue working on it, then go record it at a local studio (the same place ACADIANA recorded) once it's finished. The song will probably be finished by the end of the month and will probably clock in around five or six minutes.

Ethan, if you want to hear what I have thus far, message me or Joey and one of us will send it to you. (The first three minutes of the recording is final, and the last minute or two is just me playing around with chords and chord progressions I've been working with, which will probably be incorporated into the song later on).


No, no one else is welcome to listen to the demo (Ethan and Joey, please do not share this rough copy with anyone unless I give you explicit permission to do so), but I did want to give everyone an update of where we're at with this project.
