I have an Playstation 3, I own a few games but mostly use it for playing BluRays and DVDs.

And I forgot, I have an Xbox too, I'm not sure where it is however.

My Nana has a sega genesis and the first atari system in her basement. But I grew up playing the N64.

MetL - an emulator is a small program that "emulates" a console. Basically you can download digital versions of cartidges called "roms" that people have "dumped" its contents into the computer to create this "rom" file that is used with then emulator.

It is legal in certain conditions. Basically it works the same way as copying cds, etc.
If I remember correctly I read some time ago that if you own an actual copy or have owned a copy of a game then you are legally allowed to have a digital copy, but if you do not own your own copy then you are supposed to delete the rom within 24 hours.

now whether anyone does or not I dont know. I wouldnt bother with any anything 128-bit and up, they are a hassle.

Personally I stick to retro stuff. I do actually own a Genesis, so I dont need an emulator, but another perk of emulators is that some people still develop "homebrew" games for them. Like for example a few years ago there was an independently released Genesis rpg called "Beggar Prince", and there are a few Dreamcast titles scheduled for release this year that are independent too. Some homebrew games are only released as roms while other (like the 2 I mentioned) are actually pressed and sold.

Check into a RetroDuo instaed - it's not "hardware on a chip" like an FC Twin or most other Famiclones, it's actually the hardware. There are a few games confirmed as not working (Tengen Rolling Thunder is the one I know of), but it does play Castlevania III which most Famiclones can't, and does a good job. I don't own one (yet), but it's on my list. The only downside is that the S-Video out shows black & white for NES games - the technologies are incompatible, so original NES games can only be displayed via the composite video output. Still, not a bad little unit. Plus it will play Super Famicom and European SNES games to boot!
