When someone says that, I always respond with this...

Yes, we are supposed to judge each person by their fruits or inner-self and not by outward appearances, but get real, nooo ooone does this. That's why you don't see me walking around with a pink collar shirt from Abercrombie on wearing blue jeans that suck to my skin. I realize that, regardless of what you think, people will and do judge by outward appearance more often than not. I made a conscious decision and choose to portray myself as a metalhead. If I wear my inner-self on my outward sleeve, it cuts through the bullshit of "getting to know me" as anyone with functioning eyes can see that I am into metal and "probably play guitar".

So I say, yes, outward appearance is important.
Ha, true. It's reality. I don't even think it's mean to make judgments like that. All the stereotypes we have associated with certain looks are pretty accurate. I accept that. People just need to not be jerks to everyone that isn't like them, which is a different issue.

lmao, a tattoo is a tattoo, they ALL fade over time, you can spend 1 million bucks on one, and it will fade the same as a $100 one
Some last longer than others though.
And if you go to a respected artist you have a better chance than some guy who just set up shop is all im saying lol.

Its all about the type of ink, and most tattoo artists use the same type of ink.
which has changed a lot.

I get what you said munkey... I know people express themselves with what is in the inside.. on the outside.. but what I meant was people need to get to know the person, rather than dismiss them because of tattoos or clothes they wear... as to me the whole package is important... not assumptions made by what someone may look like.

Black and white tattoos are cool, though... If I choose to get tattoos at some point, I want black and white tattoos of my favorite bands' logos.

Also, I agree with David: there are good reasons for your wardrobe to reflect your personality — most (if not all) people will, to some (varying) degree, judge you based on your appearance (for better or for worse). I don't dress up in elaborate black metaller getups to get the point across, but if I'm buying new clothes and I have a choice between a white plaid shirt and a black shirt with an evil spider and the Metallica logo on it, I'm going to go for the one that best suits me...

On the other hand, SKINTIGHT JEANS ARE AWESOME. Jussayin. geek

hurrah for skinny pants, small shirts, a nice leather jacket and all stars.
and dresses for girls. :p

about tattoos, I'm getting some (after I get my nipple pierced in May).
Probably going to do a mix of more serious tats and cute things.
You only live once, and, hell, if you come to think about it, we all passed at least 1/4 of it already.
So why not get something that's a bit fun as well.
I'm thinking about a cute little dinosaur at the moment, for my upper arm (the side that's aiming towards my body).
I want at least a halfsleeve on my other arm and something big on 1 side of my ribs/hip...
A mix between something old school, some cute stuff and things that are important to me.

tastes change at the end of the day
thats why all my tattoos are classic 50's style, as ive always loved it and its something that i can't look back on and go, well that was spur of the moment Sad

I don't think I really care about that,
I can always look at it as a memory of how I used to be/who I was x years ago.

I am 21, at 50 my tastes will ofcourse have evolved into something else.
I keep changing. There aren't a lot of things I could get as a tat if I'd need to think of something I'll like when I'm going to be 70.

Taking some risks, living my life. It'll all be over "soon" (as in, hopefully at least about 50 years to go).

edit: the only thing I keep in mind is: will I be able to cover it enough as a teacher?
That's why I wont do anything below my wrists, or higher than my shoulders.

Yeah i agree with this to some extent, you have to be able to cover them in some professions unfortunately.

A teacher of mine has a tattoo on her wrist, so there are schools who don't care.
the thing is I'll be teaching 12-16 year olds, which is quite different.

Because nipple piercings are hot.
(they will be my first piercings as well :p)

What you going to get?
Going to put an old school microphone on my side, with a short sentence and some framing,
all old-school designs.
There's no reason behind the oldschool shizzle, except for the fact I like that style.
The microphone represents my love for singing.
Probably going to add some more to it later on.

Going to get a little funny dinosaur as well probably

I love tattoos and plan on finishing my left arm for a sleeve and getting a sleeve on my right arm too. Since reading that top post it makes even more sense. I never had a problem with Tats. But my mom and some Church friends did. But I'm dedicating one arm to Bruce Campbells Army Of Darkness and Evil dead movies and My other arm for more personal and christian things. I have the "Hell Hath no Fury at all" tat on my left calf and Bruce Campbells face on my inner left arm. Soon to get The Empire Shall fall logo on my right calf and finish my upper left arm sleeve once I get my bonus from the military. I am an artsy fartsy person. I look at it like that. I express myself through art and Music. And this is who I am. I am not ashamed of it and I don't feel that God will shun me away for my belief in that. I try to fallow as closely as I can to Jesus' words. IMO
