And bodybuilding = gay. Powerlifting and Olympic weightlifting are where its at, and I plan on getting into both.

I got another personal record today. 295lbs on the bench free weights.
First set, 7 reps. 2nd set, 8 reps. 3rd set, 8 reps. (I bounced a little on the 3rd set, but I got it!)
Spotter helped me get 10's as usual, but for 7, 8, 8, she was just watching. No touching.

Well it was just a one time "max-out" type thing. The guys were urging me to do it because they wanted me to lift more than my bro, lol. Well one rep, no lift-off, just a 45, 2 10s, and a 2.5 on each side on a standard barbell, no help whatsoever.

I'm a HUGE guy, I weigh about 290? But you gotta remember... in a few months I've gone from 110 to 180, lol....

I was a weakling.

EDIT: I still am, but I've become a little stronger.

So I started getting pain in my wrist, but I kept lifting, thinking it would go away.

Well...it didn't...and now pain shoots up my arm if I so much as move my wrist.

Crap.

Heh. I haven't had too many lifting injuries lately, but when I did, I still lifted on them. I definitely bumped the weight down considerably, or did something else - but I still lifted.

Creaks and aches come and go, especially with the weight I'm pushing.

This isn't the same. Because when the pain started it was minor and I lifted past it. But the pain throughout the week would grow. They told me to keep lifting and I did. But now, so much as lifting a finger send sheer agony down my whole arm. I told several wellness coaches about this, and at first they told me to lift past it, but when I described to them in detail what my pain was, they all (independently of each other) said I should call the doc.

The last weightlifting injury I had, I pulled/pinched/something a nerve in my left pec (from shoulder to armpit). It didn't hurt in everyday moving/physical activities, but, at the time, I was getting 8-9 reps of 275lbs on the bench.... and this nerve hurt so bad, I could only get 225lbs one time on the bench before I had to call it quits.

Dumbbells didn't hurt, so I did them instead, and for several weeks, I couldn't bench worth a crap!

My spotter at the time, Sid, told me, "You need to go hang". (points to the basket ball backboard.) Hanging from the bar, with one arm on each side of the bar gripping it, hanging down fingers facing each other. ....and keep doing it.

I hung one time for like 30 seconds, and could get 5 reps of 225lbs. I hung again for 45 seconds, and got a set of 10 of 225lbs.

For literally like a month and a half, I hung before each set so I could bench. If I didn't, I couldn't push anything. After a while, the injury went away.

I remember when my local gym shut down for a week several years ago.

I ended up doing bookoo pushups, and lifting heavy things around the house.
For hours at a time even.

My new workout is going to supplement my lifting. Its endurance training that isn't really designed to pump up your muscles. Today I am going to do a forced march for 6 miles carrying 1/4 my bodyweight.

Its to prepare me for the second phase of Special Forces training, called the q-course.

Took a friend lifting with me today, showed him how to squat, press, and deadlift.

A real big dude in my school's gym also asked if I'd be interested in competing in powerlifting, and of course the answer is a resounding hell yeah. I think he said he's going to a meet pretty soon, but I'd like to train more over the summer, get my numbers up, and go to the meet they have in October.
