| Not to be controversial, but i the Gospel of Judas (I know its not in the Bible) has something important to me.
In different contexts, it says "Jesus laughed" FOUR different times - just in that one gospel. Its a short gospel too.
We've all seen joy and love attached to Jesus, along with those stern portraits of him in every church. Jesus laughing, tells me he has a sense of humor. ...especially one thing in particular he's laughing about in that gospel.
I should take myself seriously, but not too seriously. There comes a point in some of life's trials where I just need to pick myself up, dust myself off, and laugh. |

| The laughing Jesus in the Gospel of Judas is a laugh of hateful mockery, not of joy. |

I'm sure Jesus does have a sense of humor. I mean God gives us joy and laughter so I'm sure he wouldn't leave that quality out for his Son. But I don't think anything is valid if it isn't in the Bible, but thats just me. |

| The Gospel of Judas is not relevant to my spirituality or relationship with God, so I don't really care about it. That's just me. |

| Romans 12 Living Sacrifices 1Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual[a] act of worship. 2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
3For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. 4Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his[b]faith. 7If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; 8if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.
This has so much relevance in my life... past and present. I've experienced what it is like when you conform and go the pattern of the world.... and what happens when you conform to God's will. Getting reality checks are what keeps us grounded.... I am no more important than any of you....wisdom takes many kicks in the gut and ego to transpire.
It rings so true that we are to be living sacrifices, we have to give up time, our lives, everything to serve God, we lose friends, family, opportunities etc when we choose to stand firm in our renewal of our minds and life..... and I would do it over and over again... so worth it, without Him I am nothing. |

The Bible doesn't teach that... Joey, I misread "earlier" in your apology as "eater" |

Mockery isn't quite the right term. He's joking around with the disciples, and naturally, when people joke around with each other, humor is sometimes at someone's expense. I really doubt any harm was intended. I just like really seeing the representation of Christ's human side. It means a lot to me. As for "if its not the bible, it's not valid" - I'm not sure about that. There are a LOT of "books" that didn't make the bible cut back in the day, and I believe a lot of the scriptures left out are quite legit. I find it tough to say something isn't valid, especially since I wasn't there. |
