Hearing the voice of God Vide
PostSubject: Hearing the voice of God   Hearing the voice of God Icon_minitime1Sun Nov 15, 2009 3:15 pm

I was doing random google searches like I like to do when I'm bored and I came across this, I listened to the first session that was recorded and it all seems pretty interesting, figure I'd share it. Check it out.

Two thoughts-

First, that whole shpeel sounds incredibly sketchy. It mentions stillness and journaling inner thoughts, what about 'the heart of man is desperately wicked'? And all the millions of evil things that people have pulled from internal reflection? Plus, nowhere does it mention reading scripture as hearing God's voice (though the Bible IS God's voice, transcribed). And it's called "Marck Vikler's keys..." it might seem nitpicky, but i think that naming structure is pretty telling...

That being said from a rational, logical point of view, there have been a few instances where I have felt as though I heard God's voice and it caused serious turn-around effects in my life

YO, I'm a bit excited now.
I actually have some of his books on how to hear his voice and I have really gotten into it. I had a post about this not long ago about other people who use this. It is totally legit, everything that you may have questions about are actually answered in his books.
The whole thing about man having a wicked heart is actually explained in the bible. God wasn't talking to christians at that point but to jews and gentiles. God has given us a new heart as expressed somewhere in Isiah I believe, one to be used.
Most of the things he teaches are actually expressed in the bible, including this method of hearing His voice. I definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to learn how. It has worked for me.
If you want some other stuff to check out go to www.koinonianetwork.org, its networking site for people who have do it.
If you have questions just ask me, I will try my best to answer.

He actually does explain how you can hear the voice of God through reading the bible, its explained in his main book and on the dvds that he has released. He also expresses the incredible need to have what you receive from God tested by others. That means showing others what you have received and getting back their input and if they feel that it was from God. As well as other ways of testing it for legitimacy. He does stress that your heart can be wrong and that your mind and emotions can get in the way, so he says it is incredibly important for you to have it tested by others before you act on anything.

Yeah, this is only something I've recently come to more fully understand. Yes, the heart of man is deceitfully wicked, but God replaces out heart of stone and gives us a new one, one which is sensitive to the Will of God.

I been trying to respond to this thread but people won't shut up lol (kidding Very Happy ) Anyway, I don't think this is something I'd be willing to put money on, I'm still learning and I'm still wrestling with sin so my mind ain't a pretty place atm. I wouldn't want it to get in the way of what God is trying to say to me.

Well honestly, if you read some of the stuff the book says, it may help you with that. I don't know how far your belief in stuff like this goes but not every thought in your head is yours *hint hint*, some are yours (analytical, logic) and some are either God's or demons speaking to you (spontaneous thoughts and images in your mind). If it is something along those lines then you should just brush it off and move on with loving God. Don't think about it, I can pretty much assure you that God knows your heart and knows that you don't want to be sinful.

There are a lot of things I try not to think about, I try to keep my mind on Jesus, listening to Christian metal helps a lot, but at the same times certain thoughts and images make me think about or cause me to sin. I still haven't gone to Church yet just because I feel like I'm trapped in a box, and I'm not a morning person at all and just sleep in. Theres a lot I'm wrestling with but I'm still trying to keep my mind set on Jesus.

Dude, you are always able to go to church regardless of how you feel. The people at the church should be there to help you, and if they say not to come to church if you feel that way, then you need a new church man. When I am dealing with sin, it really helps me to think about that it has almost nothing to do with me when it comes to reaching salvation, and that it is all because of His grace that I am able to have it. He payed a huge price for us and He isn't just willing to let us go unless it is our choice to walk away.
But you got the right idea with keeping your mind on Jesus, it helps me to actually visualize Him with me too.

I haven't gone to Church yet meaning I just haven't gone... I have trouble waking up in the morning and getting out of my box, weekends are my gaming time since I'm a gamer and I love gaming it's just it's kinda got me trapped. I also don't know how to find out what Church to go to yet, I'm doing some reasearch online n'stuff, but still I just haven't found what would be right for me. I also have a fear of being taught the wrong thing as well.

PostSubject: Re: Hearing the voice of God   Hearing the voice of God Icon_minitime1Mon Nov 16, 2009 8:47 am

Early church fathers were proponents of this kind of method: becoming silent, elevating the spirit and bringing the heart and mind together in order to direct all attention to the Lord. Sometimes this was/is done by recitation of a prayer, such as the Jesus prayer.
