I used to be an A's fan when I was a kid but when Seattle got the M's, well, I kinda started to lean towards them. I still kinda cheer for the A's a bit but quietly
My fave teams:
M's: havent been very good for 6 or 7 years, although they are doing well this year, they decided to be sellers and not buyers. I think they gave up to early by trading away Washburn but they did trade him while he was hot so maybe they saw something others did not see, like a short lived comeback. Oh well, I hope the prospects work out.
Padres(my fave NL team): dont get me started.........
Blue Jays: Been a fan since the 80's homerun heyday and the early 90's back to back titles. nothing but mediocrity since, and my loyalty has waned somewhat. Still would liike to see them good again but the older I get, the more patriotic I get and the less I give a poop about Canada.
Cards: Never been a long time fan of theirs but I always liked their style of play back in the 80's with awesome speed and stellar defense. They played the game right and shouldve won more than 1 title in the Ozzie Smith era. When the Cards got Tony LaRussa in '96 and McGwire in '97 (both from the A's) It kinda sparked my interest in the Cards and slowly became a fan. Pretty much big fan since '99 when my Padres decided after losing the World Series in '98 to dismantle and stop paying any salary over $500,000 to any big name player(see above "dont get me started" post). I didnt change allegiance of teams, I just started to become more interested in the Cards because they decided to take care of and honor their players and slowly they built themselves up to be contenders each year. |

they have the most exciting team in baseball BY FAR!! I love their style; gritty and professional. They look like they have fun. No distracting or irreverent players. IMO it aint Howard's or Rollin's team, it's Victorino's team. If he stays there his whole career, he'll be the team captain in a few years. He is their fire. I'm not a Philly fan but I love to watch them play and I catch them on tv when I can.
Utley and Victorino are probably my 2 fave players in MLB. |
