What would you guys recommend?

It can range anywhere from encyclopedias, dictionaries, bibles, Greek/Hebrew/Latin references, atlases, software, you name it.

I'd like to stock up before I head off to bible college in about a year and a half.

As someone who's never attended seminary, this is pure speculation. But, I hear the Nestle-aland: Greek New Testament is a good Greek NT to have. I'd also figure you would want an Interlinear Bible or at least some good software with plenty of resources on the original languages. Can't go wrong with a good copy of Calvin's Institutes of the Christian Religion either and Aquinas' Summa Theologiae, but stuff like that may depend on which bible college you're attending.

A good book or two on early church history would help as well, most likely Eusebius for reference but I personally have read through The Apostolic Fathers in English and found the introductions and footnotes to be very instructive.

Brwon-driver-Biggs hebrew lexicon
Thayer's Greek lexicon
strong's exhaustive concordance
King James bible (cause that is the only bible the strongs is numerically coded to)

the above are for word studies in order to understand WHAT scripture means. :Smile

Atlanta Christian College.

I'm going to transfer in the Fall of 2010; there's a few core classes they require that I want to take care of at my present college.

Definitely get the Greek NT. You'll need it for almost every NT class.

HOPE will cover tuition at ACC, Stafford will cover room/board/food and a large chunk of the books.

But I could use a bit more money Smile

If FAFSA works, I'll be in business.

You should be able to find them cheaper elsewhere than at the school's bookstore.

Lifeway Christian Stores is pretty pricey, as is Barnes and Noble (even with my mom's 10% discount)

I don't trust eBay anymore.

Haven't tried amazon though. I can go check that out.

Probably, but the nearest one that I know of is about 45 minutes southwest of where I live.

My mom's primary source of business before she shut down her business was eBay, and it drove her completely insane.

I did find some decent prices for some of the types of books you guys suggested, but I'm not sure which one to take over the other.

Ok, what I'm planning to do.

Since these are just going to be general references, I'm going to forgo getting hard copies and buy them digitally (through Bible Explorer 4).

Here's a list of what I'm gonna get for sure:

Zondervan's Handbook To The Bible
Thompson Chain-Reference Study Bible
Brwon-Driver-Biggs Hebrew Lexicon
Thayer's Greek Lexicon

Right now, I'd like to get recommendations for things such as bible dictionaries, a decent Hebrew-English bible, a bible atlas, a bible encyclopedia, commentaries, etc.

EDIT: I'm back to hard copies; they don't have any of these titles in the store.
