PostSubject: The Wine Thread   Tue Feb 10, 2009 2:08 pm

Alright, we have a thread devoted to beer (which I don't drink because I have really never acquired the taste). So, why not a thread devoted to wine?!? My wife and I like to relax to a nice glass of wine (red's mostly) in the evening while we catch up on our day, read, or watch TV or a movie.

What is your favorite wine? What wines would you recommend to the rest of us?

My wife and I just tried a "Jackson Triggs Vidal Icewine" -- a dessert wine that is very sweet with a smooth finish.

Llano is a really nice vineyard here in Texas. Their Chardonnay is really good.

Interesting, I occasionally drink a sip of wine, and ofcourse, during communion.
(always only red)

I do enjoy our special wine for sabbath/communion, it's sweet israelian wine.

I've actually had some of Coppolla's merlot. As I recall it was a dryer wine (even for a merlot), but enjoyable.

Possibly, Llano is carried at World Market. And there's one in Sioux Falls.

My wife and I actually buy a lot of our wines from World Market in Sioux Falls. I will inquire about Llano the next time we are there. Thanks!

If you live in or around Indiana (the only place this wine is sold that I know of) you might want to pick up the White Zinfandel by Oliver. It is a very good, sweet, desert time wine that is very smooth. We had some last evening with some homemade beer bread and a homemade artichoke dip. Delicious!!! Smile

I'm pretty sure I prefer wine over beer for my alcoholic fixation.
I do like all kinds but my favorite right now has to be 'Fat *******' chardonnay. SO GOOD.

I like some wine, but not too often, and not all kinds. I'm a bit like the bartender in Hot Fuzz, I'm aware of two kinds. Red and... white.

I don't know any particular brands but Pinot Noir is by far my favorite type.

I find wine to be terribly bitter, just as when I started to drink beer, so I guess I have to drink more wine so I taste it as a delicacy.. just as beer Very Happy (which I drink as if it were water Razz )

It was definitely a taste I had to acquire, I HATED wine at first. It was thanks to communion at church that I ended up getting the taste for it.. heh. :p

Love a glass of red wine. I prefer cab sav over shiraz... I like the fruity flavours Very Happy. We have one of the more well-known wine regions (the Coonawarra) about 50 kilometres up the road. For my son's second birthday, we cracked open a bottle of Zema Estate... probably not available in the US (unfortunately for you all!). Sensational!
